Spring 2025 Professional Development Calendar

English Language Learners 101, Part I -- This course is designed to teach preK - 12 mainstream educators and paraprofessionals research-based strategies, best practices, and approaches to assist their own instruction in helping English language learners meet academic standards.  Though this course is aimed at helping English Language Learners, there are strategies here that will support native learners as well.  Part I focuses on policy and advocacy as well as second language learning and acquisition.  April 12, 2025 - 0.6 CEUs.

English Language Learners 101, Part II -- This course is designed to teach preK - 12 mainstream educators and paraprofessionals research-based strategies, best practices, and approaches to assist their own instruction in helping English language learners meet academic standards.   Though this course is aimed at helping English Language Learners, there are strategies here that will support native learners as well.  Part II focuses on connecting culture and student achievement and language and literacy development.  April 26, 2025 - 0.6 CEUs.

Bullying:  A Guide for Identification and Intervention -- This course focuses on identifying the people involved with bullying and the role of educators in the process.  The course also focuses on interventions and planning to ensure a bully-free educational environment.  May 17, 2025 - 0.6 CEUs.

AVERT / CPR Training -- AVERT stands for Active Violence Emergency Response Training. (Multi-day training; must attend all sessions for CEU credit)  This blended course is meant to supplement district-level active violence training and focuses on how participants can more effectively respond to active violence and provide immediate, life-saving assistance to the wounded.  CPR is also a blended course to train individuals on cardiopulmonary resuscitation.  Date/Location TBA - approximately .6 CEUs.
