JFT is proud to present another round of JFT Trainings on FMLA.  

Our training has been updated since a recent lawsuit to reflect our findings from court testimony about how JPS understands the FMLA process, and how you should handle it to protect yourself.

Come learn how FMLA works according to the Department of Labor's process.  Learn how illnesses qualify for FMLA, as well as how to talk to your employer about your need for FMLA.  Interactive exercises will help bolster your understanding, and you will leave with an FMLA packet that will help you remember what you've learned.

Come learn how why documentation protects your rights and your career, what to record and how to create strong notes, and how to store and use those records securely when they matter most.

This training is a must for every school employee.  Choose your 2-hour session when you register.

JFT Training Courses:

Educational Law –  This popular session covers a variety of educational laws related to your job, from first-amendment rights to contracts to discrimination and more.  Mississippi College will no longer approve CEUs for this course, but it's still a must-have training for any union member!

Understanding/Navigating FMLA – This 2-hour session is a deep dive into the Family and Medical Leave Act.  It includes interactive exercises and group discussions to reinforce your understanding of the material.  Currently available as an in-person or a virtual session.

Documentation –  This 2-hour session is aimed at teaching you more effective documentation and where to safely store it.  The session includes case study scenarios, group discussion, and quick-response questions to ensure understanding.

Toxic VS Hostile Work Environment – This 2-hour session aims to help participants distinguish between toxic and hostile work environments, to recognize their signs, understand appropriate recourses.  The session includes interactive exercises to bolster understanding.

Worker's Compensation –  This 1-hour session explains worker's compensation, how workers' comp works, why immediate documentation is important, and how workers' comp differs from FMLA.  The session includes discussion of scenarios to help ensure understanding.
